I DIDN’T GET WHAT I WANTED FOR CHRISTMAS

I didn’t get what I wanted for Christmas

I looked all around the Christmas tree

There were presents everywhere but no skateboard anywhere

Oh I didn’t get what I wanted for Christmas

Mum said ‘Now darling just be grateful

Santa’s left presents just for you.’

But Mum, I whispered in his ear and I guess he didn’t hear

I suppose what I got will have to do

And when I opened up my presents

A great big shock did I find

Artists stuff was there, like paints and pencils everywhere

Guess O’l Santa knew my mind

‘You don’t always get what you want’ Says my Dad

‘Life always gives you what you need.’

And as I love to paint and draw it help me after all

To be the best artist I can be!

Many, many years have passed me by now

Who’da thought Mum and Dad were right

What Santa gave that year was more than Christmas cheer

I’m a successful artist, living a great life!

So if you don’t get what you want for Christmas

Be grateful for whatever comes your way

There’s always so much more even if the present’s really small

It’s about knowing that we’re loved and we’re ok!

It’s about knowing that we’re loved and we’re all ok!
